Chicago film maker Braden Wambach takes viewers on a tour through Chicago’s thriving undeground hip-hop scene with his documentary “A night in the underground”. The documentary follows chi-town underground notables such as Pugz Atomz, The Primeridian, Philip Morris, Ang 13, and several others. The interesting thing about this film is the fact it doesn’t just highlight the artists talent but it takes you on a insider view of how the local scene works for these artists. This is a rare glimpse for outsiders to view a type a chicago hip-hop that doesn’t get enough light from both the artists and scens perspective. Also the whole film is under 30 minutes so you can watch this whole film and get back to farmville or whatever dubious activites you usual waste time on on the internets. ENJOY
I just discovered Banksy. He is a rapper from Cali whose muse appears to be lean. The production on this mixtape is the perfect soundtrack for his cough syrup influenced rhymes. They were created by a producer named Easy and I have to say it is some of the most impressive cloud rap I have … Read More “Bansky Red” »

One half of the much celebrated hip-hop group cannibal ox is still doing music. Vaist Aire is known for his distinct voice and sci-fi/battle rap meets hood word play. “Royal Paper bag” off the “space illiad EP ” continues this theme nicely. The production is a spacey boom bap beat which is very fitting not … Read More “vast aire “royal purple bag”” »
I agree with RA on this on totally. I remember back in the day explaining to someone that Big Daddy Kanes taste of chocolate was a solid album with a few commercial stumbles. He is correct Kane would destroy most of the so called elite rappers today but of course that goes without saying.
One half of the infamous Mob Deep breaks down the feeling that anyone has who is still passionate about music at this point.
When Asher Roth came on the scene I expected much more from him but it never really happened. My opinion on this is that Ashers label or whoever pushed him toward the the college party gimmick rather than just sticking to showing this kids lyrical ability over great production made a mistake. Not to mention … Read More “Asher Roth “The Reading”” »
To all Independent heads like myself skyzoo needs no introduction. This video is for his song “Spike Lee was my hero”. Which takes us through how he feels spike influenced him as a artist. The video is beautifully done and the lyricism is on point as per usual from skyzoo.
