Ladies first indeed on this one. Akua Naru is a dope emcee/musician I came across on the internets while researching a sample to flip. I purchased her album from bandcamp because it spoke to me on first listen, it felt like something I have sorely missed which is the hiphop jazz connection brought forth by artists like Tribe,Guru,De la etc…. This was even more special because Akua has a kind of sultry cadence and delivery that lends itself to the cool jazz world in a unique way. Guru with his gruff monotone flow was perfect for Jazz tracks and Akua brings forth the same vibe from a new perspective. ENJOY!
