Joquan is a Detroit indie emcee and producer who has been on the grind for a while. He was brought to my attention by Mic Rockwell over at cassette tape kids. Joquan is everything you would expect from a lyrical emcee from the D i.e. carrying on the traditions of dope word play over banging beats. This is meat and potatoes hip-hop, “Yes he was colored” takes on a more political route touching on the hypocrisy of some who react systematic racism but turn a blind eye to those who make things worse in their own neighborhoods.
